As
part of their past Unit of Inquiry PYP 3 have looked at how to
communicate ideas, feelings and experiences through visual art. Students were
asked to consider what colours they felt were cold and what colours they felt
were warm or hot. After selecting a colour to represent a cold or warm feeling
they applied the watercolour paint to paper.
Mr Concagh explained to PYP 3 students how
watercolour paint could be applied to the surface of paper by using more water
than paint itself. This procedure allowed the paint to spread much more than
normal paint and create a series of different tones.
Mr. Concagh
"We have also been learning about Figurative and Abstract art. PYP 3 Beta experimented painting their own abstract work and also learned how to sketch some still art. They were then able to reflect about their work and compare both art styles."
